Membership

Benefits of becoming a BACR member

Full membership:  £60.00 per annum

PhD Student membership:  £25.00 per annum (currently free for up to one year depending on the time of joining. Fees of £25.00 per annum, up to a maximum of 4 years, are collected annually each October).

PhD Student Classification: The undertaking of a full time PhD and clinicians in full time research posts working towards a higher degree.

Applications for student membership must be submitted to the BACR Secretariat and be endorsed by their PI/Supervisor confirming their student status and duration.  To do this please upload a pdf letter to the BACR Website, once this has been received we will be able to process your membership application.  

  • Opportunities to apply (subject to eligibility) for a variety of travel, meeting and career bursaries (see web page:  Fellowships & Bursaries);
  • Subject to eligibility opportunities to apply for our prestigious awards:  (see web page:  BACR Awards) AstraZeneca Young Scientist Frank Rose Award; Roger Griffin Prize for Cancer Drug Discovery; Chris Marshall Prize for Cell Signalling;  Hamilton-Fairley Young Investigator Award;
  • Reduced fees for BACR Special Conferences and Workshops;
  • Opportunities for networking and establishing collaborations with leaders in cancer research from both academia and industry;
  • A platform to present original clinical and experimental data;
  • One yearly electronic Newsletter
  • Dedicated interactive website for up-to-date information on activities;
  • Opportunities to advertise jobs/meetings (f.o.c. for academic members) on the website with an email alert to the membership;
  • Receiving email alerts to notify you of upcoming events and awards deadlines;
  • As an affiliated National Society of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), Full Members and PhD student members only will receive free and full membership of the EACR (this is not reciprocal). The EACR provides a wide variety of services to support our community of members, including reduced registration fees for Congresses and Conferences (in-person or virtual), free registration to ‘Meet the Expert’ and ‘How to…’ webinars, facilitate communications and collaborations within the cancer research community, the opportunity to apply for bursaries and fellowships and join the EACR Book Club.

Other Memberships:

Masters (Free)

Master Student Classification: Those undertaking full time Masters  degree and who are currently not in full time employment  (These Students will not be eligible to apply for BACR Awards or Fellowship & Bursaries but as BACR members, can take advantage of the reduced registration fees for conferences).

BSc/Undergraduate Medical Students (Free)

Free membership for the duration of their course (These Students will not be eligible to apply for BACR Awards or Fellowship & Bursaries but as BACR members, can take advantage of the reduced registration fees for conferences).
