In summer 2023, the BACR held a conference for early career researchers (ECRs): Trailblazers in Cancer Research the Next Generation. Our ECR committee of Kyle Greenland (Imperial College, London), Giorgia Cioccoloni (University of Leeds), Connor Rogerson (University of Cambridge), Kathryn Pennel (University of Glasgow) and Francis M Barnieh (University of Bradford and ECR committee chair) worked hard to put together an exciting programme and obtained sponsorship to pull off what was a highly successful event. Prizes were awarded for posters and talks. The winners were:
1. Best oral presentation, judged by the BACR Executive Committee
Vasudha Tandon, University of Dundee (below centre)
2. Best poster presentation, judged by the ECR Organising Committee
Fabrizio Fai, Barts Cancer Institute (below right)
3. Poster Blitz prize judged, by the conference delegates
Katie Hanna, University of Aberdeen (below left)
The conference gave ECRs the opportunity to present their work in oral and poster format with plenty of time for networking.
Finally, a big thank you to all of the sponsors who helped make this event so successful.
